Emily Maxfield is a senior research analyst in the early childhood development research area at Child Trends. Her areas of focus include program evaluation, quantitative analysis, and child care access and quality. Emily contributes to both quantitative and qualitative research that includes assessing the impacts of policy decisions on equity, quality, and access to child care and developing and evaluating measures of young children’s well-being. Her portfolio of projects aims to provide policymakers with data-informed tools to support the development and well-being of young children. As one example, she is currently managing the data and analytic team that produces the annual State of Babies Yearbook. Prior to Child Trends, she served as a research consultant for Teachstone, analyzing early childhood program quality in the DC metro area, and supervised an inclusive before-and-after-school child care program.
