Jordyn Pourier, PhD, MPH, is a research scientist at Child Trends where she supports research, evaluation, policy, and practices focused on the well-being of Indigenous children, youth, and families. Jordyn is an enrolled member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe and was born and raised on the Cheyenne River Reservation. Her first-hand experience of the health disparities and barriers faced by American Indians motivates her to serve her community and other American Indian communities to improve the overall health of children, youth, and families.
Dr. Pourier is a community-based participatory researcher and has conducted research in American Indian communities for 15 years. Her work focuses on Indigenous health, maternal and child health, health care access, health policy, and cancer disparities. Her research seeks to support Indigenous families by incorporating cultural beliefs and practices into effective health research, policies, and practices that promote equity.
Dr. Pourier’s expertise includes project management, proposal development, qualitative and mixed methods research, Indigenous research methodologies, survey development, and both primary and secondary data analysis. She has extensive experience providing technical assistance to Tribal communities in program development, research, evaluation, and policy, both at federal and Tribal levels.
