Data Scientist I

Valerie is an associate data scientist in the reproductive health & family formation and child welfare research areas. She recently graduated from NYU’s School of Global Public Health with a Master of Public Health in social and behavioral sciences. She has experience with quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis, as well as psychometric analyses. She has a special interest in Latino health, especially as it relates to child and maternal health. Before starting at NYU, Valerie was the project coordinator for the National Institutes of Health-funded Environmental Influences on Child Health Outcomes (ECHO) project with the Boricua Youth Study. Her master’s thesis focused on understanding the protective effects of racial/ethnic identification and exploration on health outcomes in young Hispanic and Black individuals of the LGB community. In her most recent role, she was the research coordinator for the ECHO project’s Developmental Impacts of NICU Exposures cohort.
