Crafting Data Stories With the Leadership Exchange for Adolescent Health Promotion Project

Research BriefHealthDec 23 2024

The Leadership Exchange for Adolescent Health Promotion Project, or LEAHP, has created two related products to help state agency leaders and their partners craft stories within data-sharing efforts. “Building a Story With Data” outlines a process for determining how best to tell a story with existing data and includes key considerations, a case study, and reflection exercises. “Seven Strategies for Telling Stories With Data” outlines multiple communication strategies that state administrators can use to shape compelling stories. Together, these products can inform efforts to make data easier to understand by developing stories that clearly present the data and their context.

This resource was prepared for the Leadership Exchange for Adolescent Health Promotion (LEAHP) project, funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Division of Adolescent and School Health (CDC-DASH) to provide training and support to multi-sector state teams working on adolescent health in schools.

Development of this resource was supported by cooperative agreement CDC-RFA-PS18-1807 with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The opinions and findings do not necessarily represent the views or official position of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services or the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
