Indigenous Children & Families

Indigenous children and families in the United States and U.S. territories are from communities with rich, culturally grounded knowledge systems and practices. These ways of knowing and being are inherent community strengths that have been passed down through generations to support well-being and healing despite centuries of inequity and injustice that continue today. Child Trends’ Indigenous Children and Families initiative is Indigenous-led and aims to work in partnership with Indigenous Peoples to address community-identified priorities. Our work draws on Indigenous Knowledges and culture as a source of strength to advance the well-being of children and families. We partner in research, evaluation, and training and technical assistance with Tribal Nations and organizations, academic/university research centers, foundations, and the federal government.
